Don’t kid with your kidneys!

Your kidneys are your bodys filter, they:

  • Make urine
  • Remove wastes and extra fluid from your blood
  • Control your body’s chemical balance
  • Help control your blood pressure
  • Help keep your bones healthy
  • Help you make red blood cells

A report by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) determined that 16.8% of all adults above the age of 20 years have chronic kidney disease. Kidney disease is strongly related to diabetes (there are 240 million people with diabetes worldwide), because high blood sugar overworks the “filters”.

Prevention.

  • Drink 8 glasses of water a day to maintain good urine volume
  • Keep good personal hygiene
  • Balanced diet (avoid excessive salt)
  • Exercise regularly
  • Limit tobacco and alcohol as these cause blood pressure to rise
