Oceanarium is the name for seawater aquariums in which marine animals are kept. Oceanariums are harder to maintain because of the effects of salinity, yet they offer the opportunity to have more diverse displays because other are more species fish in marine environments as well as animals like sharks, rays, marine turtles and sea mammals.
The world’s first large oceanarium, now known as Marineland, was completed in 1938 near St. Augustine, Florida, U.S. The world’s largest oceanarium now, is Georgia Aquarium with 6.7 million liter capacity. this will change in December when a 60 million liter water oceanarium is opened at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.
