Size and distance effects; Moon & Sun

Technically the suns’ diameter is 400 times larger than the moons.. so then, Why does the sun and moon look the same size in the sky?

This is because the Sun is also 400 times further away!

Due to this, the Earth skies are privileged hosts of amazing spectacles called solar eclipses; but not for long, because the moon is moving farther from Earth by about 4 cm each year.

Talk about perfect proportions.. What are the odds?

  1. Instead of saying”This is because it is also ….”. Why didn’t you say “This is because THE SUN is also….”? You are dealing with children that need that extra clarity.
